The path in
I got my start in the mortgage business in 2015 at a Nashville bank, where I took a production assistant job specifically to learn every part of how a loan actually gets done, not just the sales side. By 2017, I was producing my own loans as a loan officer, and I've been at it full-time ever since. In the spring of 2024, I made the jump to the broker channel. The reason was simple: I wanted more tools in the bag for my clients. As a broker, I'm not boxed into one bank's product menu; I can shop dozens of lenders and find the loan that actually fits each situation. Sometimes that means a better rate. Sometimes, a better fee structure. Sometimes it's the only lender willing to underwrite a more complicated story.
Who I work best with
Move-up buyers, repeat clients, and self-employed borrowers — anyone who values a smooth, honest process over slick sales talk. Because I'm a broker, I have access to lender programs (bank statement loans, P&L loans, asset-based) that traditional banks can't offer, which often makes the difference for self-employed and 1099 borrowers.
Outside the work
A Detroit transplant who moved to Nashville in 2007 for the country music scene and never looked back. I live in Hendersonville with my wife and two daughters. When I'm not working a deal, I'm with my family, watching sports, or out for a run.
About the name
A coworker started calling me "Mortgage Cowboy" because I always wear cowboy boots. The joke stuck, and honestly, it fits why I moved to Nashville in the first place.
